Nook Necessities

I frequently like to imagine the different features of my dream house, although they rarely ever fit together. One thing I know I want (and could actually possibly have some day) is a little reading nook. It's the perfect place to cozy up with a cup of tea, a comfy pillow, and a good book.

The key to your reading nook is to utilize clever storage and maximize comfort. There should be ample pillows and blankets, as well as a place to store your books for easy access and a place to put your cup when you have to turn the page. After all, what's worse then getting all settled in and ready to go only to find that you left your book on your nightstand and your tea must be precariously perched on the least puffy of the pillows instead of confidently placed on a cute coaster? Well, probably quite a few things, but you get my point.

I've curated a wishlist for most of your reading nook needs below, so decorating is just a click away! First are the pillows. Pick a color scheme or pillow base to start off your nook. Going with black and white opens up the door for endless accent pieces as well as the added bonus of not clashing with any book covers, but colors and patterns can be just as fun. Next come the cups and coasters. You'll need a place to put your cup of Lady Gray tea while you read, so why not have some fun with some oversized puzzle pieces? If you're anything like me, you'll also want to have some post-its and a pencil handy to note quotes or passages you loved or things you want to look up. Last but not least are the little extras - a wool blanket for winter sessions, a scented candle or two, some creative lighting, etc. The possibilities are endless so go shop on! Happy reading!

Pillows, obviously a must.

Cups and coasters.

Notepads, pencils, and post-its to note and save your place.

Extras.

Desk Top

Recently I decided to stop using my desk as an extra bookshelf and actually use it for its intended purpose. This meant clearing it of stacks of old magazines, tons of old journals, what seemed like 400 pens and pencils, as well as a myriad of other junk. After laying out what I intended to keep on/in my desk, I headed to my new favorite obsession The Container Store. They have literally everything you need to keep yourself organized. Now everything on my desk has its very own space and place and I can actually sit down to use my computer and do some work.

My next project? Getting my desk to look like these beauties I came across on Pinterest. Here are a few of my wish list items for decorating and beautifying my home work space.
