Get the Look : Winter Whites

I am a big fan of white after Labor Day. Few things look as great as a crisp, clean white outfit and I couldn't care less about what time of year I wear it. On the other hand, there is a marked difference between summer and winter whites, but white as whole should never be off limits. You can wear your favorite white pieces long through the fall and winter, just like Happily Grey's Mary Seng does here.

Winter whites differ from the bright whites of summer in that they are a bit creamier, calmer, and cozier. They aren't quite as stark and clear. As is the case with creating any monotone outfit, don't be afraid to mix and match shades. Just make sure to test them together to make sure they aren't too similar or too different. The element I like most in Seng's look is her cozy cable knit sweater. It screams fall/winter even when paired with a short white skirt. There is no mistaking this outfit for a late summer stretch.

a Pair & a Spare

Lately I've been all about DIY projects. There's something wonderful about wearing or using something you made yourself, or at least decorated yourself. For much of my DIY inspiration I turn to the blog a Pair & a Spare by Australian beauty Geneva Vanderzeil, but really her blog is so much more than just craft inspiration.

A Pair & a Spare covers everything from reconstructing thrift shop finds, to travel and packing advice, to outfit inspiration. Vanderzeil really does it all. Her light and casual tone gives her blog a sense of friendliness, like it belongs to your BFF or a girl you know. I especially love the ease and simplicity of many of her outfits and DIY projects. Another wonderful aspect of her blog is her partnership with craft supplier Wander & Hunt. On their website, she sells DIY kits and supplies to compliment her projects and makes finding supplies an absolute breeze.

Vanderzeil is constantly posting new content, making a Pair & a Spare a daily stop for me. I know I'll always find something new to try or something exciting to inspire me. Check out some of her latest DIY projects below and click to get started!

The Fashion Fund Season 2

Tune in tomorrow night at 10PM for the first episode of the second season of Vogue's "The Fashion Fund." The television series, hosted by the one and only Anna Wintour, follows a group of designers competing to win the CFDA/Vogue's Fashion Fund Designer of the Year award. And believe me the competition is tough!

Every year the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) hosts an awards ceremony to celebrate all the accomplishments the industry has had over the past year. One of the most prestigious awards goes to an up and coming designer that shows great potential and true talent. The designer who wins the Fashion Fund Designer of the Year award receives $300,000 to fund their work as well as a year long mentorship from some of the industries biggest names. Two runners-up also receive $100,000 each and mentors of their own. So you can see why these designers are working hard to ensure that they win.

See a preview of season 2 here and then head to to find out what channel to tune to in order to watch the series starting at 10PM tomorrow night!

*an earlier version of this post suggested The Fashion Fund is a web series, however it is a full fledged television show.
